Are you turning 30,35,40,45, 50? Landmark or milestone birthdays are the perfect excuse for the ultimate Paris Friends Getaway. Tom used his wife’s 30th birthday as the catalyst for a chic jaunt to Paris and to make it truly memorable, he invited her entire bridal party and their spouses! Here is a candid account of the magical week that marked Louise’s 30th milestone birthday with her best friends in Paris.

The flight arrived at around 11:30 am at CDG and a driver was waiting for the group with a plaque with the family name. The group headed directly to the Marais where they they were welcomed into a 5 bedroom private house featuring an elevator and pool and best of all included a butler. The butler gave them a brief tour of their Paris home for the next week. Yes Tom, did his homework and found the Bauderlaire apartment on the Paris Luxe Apartments.

To some it may see like an extravagant getaway but when you consider ultra luxury accommodations in the heart of Paris able to cater to 10 guests for only $22,000, it comes out to less than $3,000,00 per person.

After the group settled, they walked approximately a half mile to Arc de Triomphe where they purchased tickets for the 2 day hop-on/hop-off bus tour of the city. The weather was warm and beautiful ideal for cruising on top and was the best way to experience the amazing sites.

The next stop was Notre Dame, as a massive, very impressive structure, but it was a bit dark and it’s hard for amateur photographers to do justice to such a vast, impressive site. After that, the party walked around the Ile St-Louis and enjoyed lunch (croque monsMonday they spent 3.5 hours at the Louvre, which is amazing, but utterly overwhelming. they managed to see all the most famous pieces (Mona Lisa, Winged Victory of Samothrace, Venus de Milo, etc.) and also visited the old French crown (Louis XIV) and the recreation of Napoleon old house. They had lunch at Cafe Marly and walked around the area a bit and made way back to the Opera House and, naturally, arrived right at the time it was closing (4 PM). It was cocktail hour and they wre pretty tired so, fortunately, as they Harry’s Bar where they popped in for a couple of Bloody Marys.

They went to Cafe de la Paix for dinner and had a very good meal and then they back to the townhouse and popped into the James Joyce pub where they sat at an outside table and were accosted by a total drunk patron.

On Tuesday , they took the metro to the Orsay in the morning and spent 2.5 hours. They raved about the Orsay , the building is amazing and the collection is unforgettable. They took the RER to the Tour Eiffel and walked around and took some photos. They had a long lunch at Jules Verne, which was totally delicious and quite an experience.

They walked from Eiffel Tower to Les Invalides and looked at the WWI and WWII exhibits and then visited Napoleon crypt. From there they walked to Rue de Cler and saw all the fruit and vegetable markets and had a drink at a local bar. They took the metro back to the townhouse and had a light snack at Chez Clement.

On Wednesday, they took the metro to Montmarte to visit Sacre Coeur, which all thought was way more interesting that Notre Dame. They walked over to Place de Tetre and walked around and looked at all the artist stalls. They had lunch at a fun restaurant called La Cremaillerie, which is right on the Square. Montmartre is a really interesting area with fun shops and nice gardens and interesting looking apartments.

They followed a walking tour and walked to Au Lapin Agile (which, disappointingly, is apparently closed during the day) and then continued on to the Moulin Rouge. They did have drinks on Boulevard Blanche (an area full of prostitutes!).

They took the metro to Place de Concorde which is a very impressive spot and then They walked up the Champs-Elysees and had dinner at a restaurant called Cafe Fouquet on the Champs-Elysees which is supposed to be the hot, hip place for locals. They were on the early side so they missed a lot of that but the food and wine was very nice.

On Thursday, they took the metro to St. Germaine, an area everyone loved. They kept saying that if they lived in Paris, this is the neighborhood to live in. They shopped on the main Boulevard and found a great shop, La Fragonard, and bought some beautiful soap and perfumes (both of us) and Louise bought some lovely salad plates.

The lady there was fantastic and gave us tons of free samples of perfumes and lotions and other beauty items. They went to the Swarovski shop and Louise bought a beautiful pendant.

They walked around and visited several other fun shops. They had lunch at Les Deux Magots even though it is famous, the food was average. They made way to the Latin Quarter where they walked around the main Square and also followed some of the guided walk. They walked past the Sorbonne and they to the Pantheon and saw some interesting old graves/crypts.

They walked down to Montparnasse, but many things were closed that day because of Victory in Europe day. They had some drinks at the Coupole de Lila and then took the train to the Trocadero where they took some nice photos of the Tour Eiffel. They walked a bit through the residential area (very posh) and headed for a restaurant called La Fontaine de Mars, a great local place which not touristy, and had a really good dinner.

On Friday, they woke up early to go to Versailles on a guided tour. Versailles is very interesting it has beautiful gardens and the interior of the palace is totally over the top. They got back to townhouse at around 1 PM and changed clothes and headed for the Opera House and took a tour. It is possibly the most magnificent thing they saw on the visit and the photos absolutely do not do it justice. It would be amazing to actually go to an opera there.

After, they all headed to Printemps for shopping and had a late snack at the bistro with the stained glass dome ceiling. They also visited Galleries Lafayette and other shops. They walked to Le Madeleine and visited Fauchon and other shops in that area. They walked down Rue Royale and had cocktails at Maxims and then on to dinner at Le Grand Colbert near Galeries Vivienne which was delicious (especially the smoked salmon on blinis).

They visited Ste. Chappelle, which is absolutely breathtaking and a truly fantastic site. It is another place where photos wil not do it justice, but they actually managed to get a few decent ones. They then headed on to Marais, Les Halles and Bastille and had lunch at Au Pied de Cochon. They walked around (partially following a suggested walk) and also visited Le Cochon, one of the authentic bistros noted in the book that John gave Ali. They walked to Place de Vosges (very impressive) and sat in the square under the trees.

They made their way back to the apartment. They rested and packed and had dinner at a local spot, Chez George, and then hopped over to Tour Eiffel since They wanted to get some nighttime photos. Ali bought George a fun glowy souvenier.

1 Introduction

Ad hoc networks are a new paradigm of wireless communication for mobile hosts (which we call nodes). In an ad hoc network, there is no fixed infrastructure such as base stations or mobile switching centers. Mobile nodes that are within each other’s radio range communicate directly via wireless links, while those that are far apart rely on other nodes to relay messages as routers. Node mobility in an ad hoc network causes frequent changes of the network topology. Military tactical operations are still the main

Application of ad hoc networks today. For example, military units (e.g., soldiers, tanks, or planes), equipped with wireless communication devices, could form an ad hoc network when they roam in a battlefield. Ad hoc networks can also be used for emergency, law enforcement, and rescue missions. Since an ad hoc network can be deployed rapidly with relatively low cost, it becomes an attractive option for commercial uses such as sensor networks or virtual classrooms.

1.1 Security goals

Security is an important issue for ad hoc networks, especially for those security-sensitive applications. To secure an ad hoc network, we consider the following attributes: availability, confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation.

Availability ensures the survivability of network services despite denial of service attacks. A denial of service attack could be launched at any layer of an ad hoc network. On the physical and media access control layers, an adversary could employ jamming to interfere with communication on physical channels. On the network layer, an adversary could disrupt the routing protocol and disconnect the network. On the higher layers, an adversary could bring down high-level services. One such target is the key management service, an essential service for any security framework.

Confidentiality ensures that certain information is never disclosed to unauthorized entities. Network transmission of sensitive information, such as strategic or tactical military information, requires confidentiality. Leakage of such information to enemies could have devastating consequences. Routing information must also remain confidential in certain cases, because the information might be valuable for enemies to identify and to locate their targets in a battlefield.

Integrity guarantees that a message being transferred is never corrupted. A message could be corrupted because of benign failures, such as radio propagation impairment, or because of malicious attacks on the network.

Authentication enables a node to ensure the identity of the peer node it is communicating with. Without authentication, an adversary could masquerade a node, thus gaining unauthorized access to resource and sensitive information and interfering with the operation of other nodes.

Finally, non-repudiation ensures that the origin of a message cannot deny having sent the message. No repudiation is useful for detection and isolation of compromised nodes. When a node A receives an erroneous message from a node B, non-repudiation allows A to accuse B using this message and to convince other nodes that B is compromised.

There are other security goals (e.g., authorization) that are of concern to certain applications, but we will not pursue these issues in this paper.

1.2 Challenges

The salient features of ad hoc networks posses both challenges and opportunities in achieving these security goals.

First, use of wireless links renders an ad hoc network susceptible to link attacks ranging from passive eavesdropping to active impersonation, message replay, and message distortion. Eavesdropping might give an adversary access to secret information, violating confidentiality. Active attacks might allow the adversary to delete messages, to inject erroneous messages, to modify messages, and to impersonate a node, thus violating availability, integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation.

Secondly, nodes, roaming in a hostile environment (e.g., a battlefield) with relatively poor physical protection, have non-negligible probability of being compromised. Therefore, we should not only consider malicious attacks from outside a network, but also take into account the attacks launched from within the network by compromised nodes. Therefore, to achieve high survivability, ad hoc networks should have a 2 distributed architecture with no central entities. Introducing any central entity into our security solution could lead to significant vulnerability; that is, if this centralized entity is compromised, then the entire network is subverted.

Thirdly, an ad hoc network is dynamic because of frequent changes in both its topology and its membership (i.e., nodes frequently join and leave the network). Trust relationship among nodes also changes, for example, when certain nodes are detected as being compromised. Unlike other wireless mobile networks, such as mobile IP [21, 48, 34], nodes in an ad hoc network may dynamically become affiliated with administrative domains. Any security solution with a static configuration would not suffice. It is desirable for our security mechanisms to adapt on-the-fly to these changes.

Finally, an ad hoc network may consist of hundreds or even thousands of nodes. Security mechanisms should be scalable to handle such a large network.

1.3 Routing Protocol and Threats

Routing protocols for ad hoc networks are still under active research. There is no single standard routing protocol. Therefore, we aim to capture the common security threats and to provide guidelines to secure routing protocols. In most routing protocols, routers exchange information on the topology of the network in order to establish routes between nodes. Such information could become a target for malicious adversaries who intend to bring the network down. There are two sources of threats to routing protocols. The first comes from external attackers. By injecting erroneous routing information, replaying old routing information, or distorting routing information, an attacker could successfully partition a network or introduce excessive traffic load into the network by causing retransmission and inefficient routing.

The second and also the more severe kind of threats come from compromised nodes, which might advertise incorrect routing information to other nodes. Detection of such incorrect information is difficult: merely requiring routing information to be signed by each node would not work, because compromised nodes are able to generate valid signatures using their private keys.

To defend against the first kind of threats, nodes can protect routing information in the same way they protect data traffic, i.e., through the use of cryptographic schemes such as digital signature. However, this defense is ineffective against attacks from compromised servers. Worse yet, as we have argued, we cannot neglect the possibility of nodes being compromised in an ad hoc network. Detection of compromised nodes through routing information is also difficult in an ad hoc network because of its dynamically changing topology: when a piece of routing information is found invalid, the information could be generated by a compromised node, or, it could have become invalid as a result of topology changes. It is difficult to distinguish between the two cases.

On the other hand, we can exploit certain properties of ad hoc networks to achieve secure routing. Note that routing protocols for ad hoc networks must handle outdated routing information to accommodate the dynamically changing topology. False routing information generated by compromised nodes could, to some extent, be considered outdated information. As long as there are sufficiently many correct nodes, the routing protocol should be able to find routes that go around these compromised nodes. Such capability of the routing protocols usually relies on the inherent redundancies — multiple, possibly disjoint, routes between nodes — in ad hoc networks.

2. Key Management Service

We employ cryptographic schemes, such as digital signatures, to protect both routing information and data traffic. Use of such schemes usually requires a key management service. We adopt a public key infrastructure because of its superiority in distributing keys and in achieving integrity and non-repudiation. Efficient secret key schemes are used to secure further communication after nodes authenticate each other and establish a shared secret session key. In a public key infrastructure, each node has a public/private key pair. Public keys can be distributed to other nodes, while private keys should be kept confidential to individual nodes. There is a trusted entity called Certification Authority (CA) [11, 47, and 26] for key management. The CA has a public/private key pair, with its public key known to every node, and signs certificates binding public keys to nodes. The trusted CA has to stay on-line to reflect the current bindings, because the bindings could change over time: a public key should be revoked if the owner node is no longer trusted or is out of the network; a node may refresh its key pair periodically to reduce the chance of a successful brute-force attack on its private key. It is problematic to establish a key management service using a single CA in ad hoc networks. The CA, responsible for the security of the entire network, is a vulnerable point of the network: if the CA is unavailable, nodes cannot get the current public keys of other nodes or to establish secure communication with others. If the CA is compromised and leaks its private key to an adversary, the adversary can then sign any erroneous certificate using this private key to impersonate any node or to revoke any certificate.

A standard approach to improve availability of a service is replication. But a naive replication of the CA makes the service more vulnerable: compromise of any single replica, which possesses the service private key, could lead to collapse of the entire system. To solve this problem, we distribute the trust to a set of nodes by letting these nodes share the key management responsibility.

3. Push! Photo: Informal Photo Sharing in Ad-Hoc Networks

As mobile camera phones become ubiquitous the practice of photography changes. Camera phone pictures are usually taken with sharing in mind. Meanwhile, publicly sharing photographs online has become increasingly popular with websites such as Flickr. Push! Photo is a mobile photo sharing application where photos can be made public and immediately accessed by anyone nearby. The application also automatically searches for photos on nearby devices to find interesting and relevant photos. Push! Photo shows how it is possible to share digital photos just as easy as paper photos.

Shoot!

Publicize!

Discover!

Enjoy!

3.1	THE PUSH! PHOTO PROTOTYPE

The current prototype of Push! Photo allows photos to be made public, and users can browse their own photo collection as well as those of others nearby. When devices are in proximity of one another, they will automatically start to search each other’s public photo collections for

Photographs relevant to one self. These photos are shown as a multi-picture slideshow, which is extended as new photos are found. To browse photos from an event shown in a particular photo the user can click on that picture in the slideshow. The application will then download all photos from nearby devices taken at that event. In this way, if a user spots an interesting picture in the slideshow, she can easily find more photos from the same occasion. To decide

Whether two photos are from the same event, information about whom else was around and the time of shooting is used. The application implements a discovery service to find other devices when they are within Wi Fi-range. Thus the application is always aware of who else (using Push!Photo) is around at a particular time. As a photograph is taken, the resulting picture is tagged with this information together with the time and the identity of the photographer. The current prototype is an application running on

Pocket PCs with WiFi-cards and external SD-cameras

3.2 RELATED WORK

In previous work with Push! Music [2] music files were replaced with so called media agents which were enabled to autonomously copy themselves between devices over a wireless ad hoc network. The media agents try to find their

way to potential listeners as users meet, and as a song is copied it automatically enters the play list. In this way the users discover new music while passively listening. Other projects have looked at mobile photo sharing. Davis et al. in MM2 uses the notion of co-presence to simplify the decision of with whom to share [1]. Photos are then uploaded automatically to a central web server where the sharing recipients can access the photos. Kohno and Rekimoto instead use GPS information and time stamps to decide if pictures are from the same event or not [4]. This is used to let users easily browse each others photos when standing in a group to serve as a topic of discussion. The system also let users drag and drop pictures between your own and other’s devices. As a contrast, Push! Photo aims to look into how mobile sharing can be simplified by allowing seamless sharing, and using context and tagging to automatically find interesting and relevant photographs

4 Conclusions

In this paper, we have analyzed the security threats an ad hoc network faces and presented the security objectives that need to be achieved. On one hand, the security-sensitive applications of ad hoc networks require high degree of security; on the other hand, ad hoc networks are inherently vulnerable to security attacks. Therefore, security mechanisms are indispensable for ad hoc networks. The idiosyncrasy of ad hoc networks poses both challenges and opportunities for these mechanisms. This paper focuses on how to secure routing and how to establish a secure key management service in an ad hoc networking environment. These two issues are essential to achieving our security goals. Besides the standard security mechanisms, we take advantage of the redundancies in ad hoc network topology and use diversity coding on multiple routes to tolerate both benign and Byzantine failures. To build a highly available and highly secure key management service, we propose to use threshold cryptography to distribute trust among a set of servers. Furthermore, our key management service employs share refreshing to achieve proactive security and to adapt to changes in the network in a scalable way. Finally, by relaxing the consistency requirement on the servers, our service does not rely on synchrony assumptions. Such assumptions could lead to vulnerability. A prototype of the key management service has been implemented, which shows its feasibility. The paper represents the first step of our research to analyze the security threats, to understand the security requirements for ad hoc networks, and to identify existing techniques, as well as to propose new mechanisms to secure ad hoc networks. More work needs to be done to deploy these security mechanisms in

an ad hoc network and to investigate the impact of these security mechanisms on the network performance.

What is an Extreme Smile Makeover and can I afford one?

Often I get an email asking me how much are porcelain veneers? The question is really, how much will it cost me to have an extreme makeover or enhancement? The next question is what is an extreme smile makeover? It is a media term to generate excitement and implies the transformation of an unattractive smile into the classic large, bright and bleached white beauty pageant or Hollywood smile. A smile enhancement can mean the same thing for some people and for others it can be much more limited in scope, it all depends on the look the patient is looking for.

Therefore, without seeing the patients smile in person or in photos, it is impossible to know. Let me explain why. A smile is highly variable and unique to each person. A similar question would be to ask a home remodel contractor what is would cost to remodel your home without him seeing your home. A walk through and inspection would be needed. To have new lighting the electrical panel and wiring must be good for example. Let’s review what I must know before I can tell you what an extreme makeover may cost.

The first thing I must see is your biggest smile. I am looking to see if you display both your upper and lower teeth and if your upper gums show? If you want a dramatic color change beyond what bleaching will provide and you have a large smile that displays your upper and lower teeth, you may be looking at treating both your uppers and lowers that display. If you show your gums, you may need leveling your gums or a gum lift to get an attractive result. If you have a wide smile you may show 12 upper teeth when you smile or you may show as little as 8 teeth. Younger patients normally need less treatment to get a great result. Older more mature patients have more structural damage from time, large fillings and clenching and grinding. Besides an attractive smile, we need a healthy smile so that it holds up for a long time. The next thing we look at after the shape of the lips, smile and the display of gums in the smile is the position of the front two teeth. Are they the right length, are they long enough, and are they out in the smile enough? Once their position is ideal, the ends of the upper teeth should form an arch or curve parallel to the lower lip and create a full horseshoe shape from one corner of the lip or smile to the other. This allows the teeth to reflect light evenly and not have any dark areas (shadows) in the smile.

An attractive smile is determined by several factors. The shape of your lips and symmetry is like the frame of a picture. Next, the gum display is like the matting around the portrait. Finally, the teeth are the subject of the portrait and must be ideally centered into the picture in all three dimensions. The shape of your lips and symmetry is like the frame of a picture. The symmetry and harmony of your smile comparing the left side and right side with your nose being the dividing line, the color of your teeth, and their position in your mouth under your lip and the amount of teeth displayed during a smile all contribute to the impact of your smile on people’s perception. As a cosmetic dentist I can affect all these elements except the basic shape of the lips. When I do a smile make-over I am using all these elements to the patient’s best advantage to achieve the optimum result.

I start with a mental image of an ideal smile for a patient from my years of experience. This picture is based on research on people’s perception of beauty. But not all people want the beauty queen Hollywood smile. Most of the time people are not sure what they want, they just know they want an improvement or enhancement. I must find out what they think they want, and then show them what they would look like with that improvement. Then, on a photo of the patient I draw the enhancements that I see that they have not mentioned and ask them if they would like to see the photo. I believe patients should know all their options and have a picture of the finished result before they start. This is a process where I get to know what the patient understands and wants. Some patient know what they want, but often patients get focused on one thing in their smile they do not like and develop a blind spot for other potential improvement areas. Once the major defect is corrected they suddenly see the other areas they had not seen before. If they want to see what I am talking about I show them the drawing and offer to create two computer images, one with the smile enhancements they requested and one with the additional enhancements that I see. This way the patients can explore all options before they start and are not disappointed with the results if they selected limited enhancements, as this can often require their enhancement to be redone to make the desired additional improvements.

This process eliminates disappointment as the patient and I basically know the end result before we start. This is the starting point to get a general idea of the scope of the treatment desired. From here a ball park fee can be discussed. A picture speaks a thousand words. Now the patient can choose. From here we have many additional diagnostic aids you will hear about from mock-up in your mouth to wax-ups on models to prototypes. I use all these diagnostic aids once the patient and I have a good idea of what will make the patient happy in the end and what the fee would be. From there it is just putting icing on the cake.

Once the patient has chosen, we use all abovementioned elements to achieve the optimum result, starting with an evaluation of the gum display on extreme smiles. I will raise, lower or level the gums so that the patient shows the appropriate amount of gum in their smile and a horizontal line connecting the tops of the teeth will be approximately parallel to the upper lip if needed. Next, I will look at the position of the two front teeth in the smile. Are they centered in the portrait and do we see enough of them to be proportionate to their face? Do we want to bring them out to make the lip go up higher in the smile to display more teeth and make the teeth brighter as they will be further out to reflect light and brighten their smile? Do we want them to go back in the smile and can the bite from the lower teeth accommodate this? Are they a clincher and grinder and how will this affect the muscle memory of the lower jaw during grinding or chewing? How will the length and width affect the tightness of the upper lip, lower lip and s, v and f sounds? All of this is evaluated in the mock-up or prototypes to insure maximum comfort. Once the ideal position of the upper two teeth are established for esthetics and function then we look at the length of the rest of the upper teeth, and position them on an arch approximately parallel to the lower lip, to give a pleasant youthful appearance. As we get older we tend to grind down our upper front teeth making them appear shorter than the rest of our upper back teeth in our smile, this is called a reverse smile line. Then I evaluate the harmony and symmetry of your smile comparing the left to the right side with the midline being between the upper two front teeth. This we call the arrangement of your teeth, making them proportionately ideal to your face and to each other. Next, I look at the facial arch of the upper front teeth. Do you have a nice horseshoe shape from corner of the mouth to corner of the mouth? If you do not your arch may have shadows in the corner of the mouth areas causing your upper back teeth to look darker as they are in a dark shadow with no light to reflect off them. Thus, they may be the same color as your front teeth and may have even had them bleached, but to no avail, they still look dark in your smile. Do you have big lips which look great, but cast a shadow over your teeth? This could make them look darker, so we may want to bring them out. But if you have a tight upper lip this would not be recommended. Finally, I look at the color of your teeth. What is your skin tone? The darker the skin the more contrast you have and whiter your teeth appear. Blue eyed blonds tend to have very pale skin tones and thus their teeth always seem to have a yellow tint and usually need whiter teeth shades to compensate and not appear yellow. There are hundreds of details that a good cosmetic dentist learns involving art, light reflection, surfaces, textures, contrast, esthetic illusions, etc., but it would probably put you to sleep and they do not apply to everyone. The main thing is if you have a particularly difficult case you need to make sure you use someone who has the training, artistic gift and experience to use all these elements to your advantage.

Once all these esthetic elements are considered I produce a computer image of what I think would be the most attractive smile for the patient based on what I know about their personality and style. Then I produce another image with the enhancements they requested. The patient then reviews both images and we go over them together. We could talk for weeks, but it is the comparison of these images that turns the switch on for many patients and they see things they did not see before. Some still want limited enhancements, others want change, but for all there is no buyer’s remorse as they understand and can visualize their options before they start. Now the patient can understand why we cannot quote them a fee over the internet or phone. The smile is a very personal thing where the public sees every detail of the treatment every day, much like your skin, eyes and nose. Your smile has the power to make you look ten years younger or older beyond your years, more so than any other esthetics enhancement procedure. It can mimic nature and make the person appear as they were genetically blessed with a beautiful smile and teeth, or it can scream fake and artificial. Especially in today’s dental environment where much of the porcelain work is being exported offshore (overseas) to reduce labor costs. Many dental labs have closed as dentist are more often sending their work to large labs which charge low prices and in turn send the work to Asian countries to fabricate the porcelain by technicians who make as little as $50.00 per month. The dentist never meets or communicates with these offshore technicians and in my experience the results speak for themselves. Unfortunately, highly skilled labor is high, as this work requires tremendous training and talent as it is an art work. Patient’s who do not do their research and shops by price only are the most vulnerable to this situation. I always recommend patients ask to see pictures of the before and after cases of the doctor’s work, to ask how many cases they do per month and ask about the level of training they have in cosmetic work. 80% of the dentistry done in the US is said to be one and two tooth dentistry on back teeth. Excuse me for getting off on that topic, let’s get back to our patients choosing what smile enhancements they want.

Once the patient has made their choice of the look they would like we also discuss the health of their mouth to include the biology, structure and function at their consultation appointment. What good is an attractive smile that does not last a long time? Finally, treatment is decided and appointments, fees, and financing are discussed. We offer interest free third party financing which helps patients get the result they want at an affordable monthly payment. Now with all the practical matters addressed we go on to treatment. We incorporate mock-ups (bonding material shaped into teeth by me, like a free hand sculpture on the patients teeth) and photos taken to confirm live the look the patient wants. Models of the teeth and mock-ups are taken to fabricate the prototypes. Prototypes are the first set of teeth made which we can alter in the mouth after we have placed them. Here is where we fine tone the style or shape of the teeth and color. They are a test run of all the design choices we have made. While the prototypes are being made we often will treat any gum disease that is present, alter the gums or bleach the teeth if needed. Next, we will reshape the teeth and fit the prototypes. The patient will wear these prototypes for 2-5 days and return to give me feedback on the color selected, arrangement, style, shape, size, etc. Once the changes are made on the prototypes and the patient sees what they want we take photos, models and sometimes have our onsite ceramist see the patient for any special needs or requests. Now the ceramist starts the detailed art work of creating a smile in porcelain that will require an enormous number of hours of labor to deliver a beautiful life like result. On average in a couple of weeks depending of the amount of work done, the patient returns to have the prototypes removed and the permanents tried-in. The patient then approves the final smile. If I or the patient wishes any changes to be made, again my onsite ceramist will be there to make the changes on the spot. Then the beautiful final result is bonded permanently in place. Through this process the patient gets to evaluate all their options and modify it as they discover the look they like the best by wearing it in their own mouth. So often they make changes from what they thought they initially wanted. That is why our system is so important as it allows for patients to self discover the look they love the best.

How can something that makes you look and feel so healthy…be so bad for you? There is no such thing as a “safe tan”

Facts taken from the Skin Cancer foundation:

    * Skin Cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States.

    * More than 90% of all skin cancers are caused by the sun.

    * The risk for skin cancer doubles after 5 or more sun burns.

    * Approximately 59,940 melanomas will be diagnosed this year alone, over 8,110 will result in death.

Despite these alarming hard core facts, sun tanning is on the rise among teenagers and older 30’s to 50 year olds alike. The quest for a healthy glow and a bronzed body has become a national past time. Whether it’s from the sun or a tanning bed, these sun worshipers are slathering on the expensive sun tan oil with blatant disregard to the long term damaging effects of UVA and UVB Rays. Unbelievable as it may be, these self proclaimed sun lovers admit to using little to no sun protection at all.

Baking your skin in the sun or tanning bed for an extended period of time is an extremely dangerous and often fatal idea. The undisputed facts show that over exposure to the sun can have you ultimately dieing for a tan.

How Do We Damage Our Skin?

The first sign of skin damage is sunburn. Sunburns, no matter how mild you think they may be result in DNA damage. This most certainly paves the way to skin cancer, also known as melanoma.

Did you know that getting a tan is your body’s way of defending itself from the harmful rays of the sun?

Tanning zaps your skin’s youthful appearance, the damage builds up over time. What most of us don’t realize is that while your busy building that perfect tan, you skin is slowly and silently building a case for skin cancer. The Ultra Violet Radiation is responsible for pre-mature skin damage that is called Photo Aging.

Photo Aging – Do You Look Older Than You Really Are?

Over the years we all age naturally. People that tan age at an accelerated rate due to over exposure to UV Light. Once this process is set in motion, it is almost impossible to reverse.

Yes, there are expensive procedures available, but your skin will never be able to regenerate at the pace the sun is working to make you look older. No amount of money in the world can give you back your skin’s collagen, natural elasticity and youthful glow.

Signs of Photo Aging

    * Deep wrinkle patterns & fine lines

    * Dried, parched look and feel to skin

    * Freckles and liver spots, most prevalent on your face, chest, hands and back area

    * Dilation of small blood vessels under the skin

    * Destruction of elasticity

    * Dry, rough patches

    * Sallow complexion

    * Mottled, spotted complexion

    * Thinner, more delicate looking translucent skin

Smart Protection From The Sun

The warm glow of the sun beckons to everyone. Summer months and warm winter vacation spots have us all heading for the boats and bathing suits. Many of us enjoy the great outdoors on golf courses, pools and playgrounds. It is inevitable that the searing sun will be there to do its damage. Most people will not make the commitment to stay out of the sun, and you don’t really have to. Just learn to be sun smart and protect yourself from the harmful rays.

Here Are Some Smart Prevention Tips

    * Stay away from all UV Tanning Beds. (no matter what they claim, they are not safe)

    * Stay out of the sun between the hours of 10am 4pm (these are the dangerous hours, seek the shade if possible.)

    * Limit exposure time while in the water. UV Rays are magnified by the water.

    * Wear proper sun gear A good sun hat with a broad brim or sports cap. Wear UV protected sunglasses. Always wear a shirt when in the sun for long periods of time.

    * Apply sunscreen to all exposed skin areas. Make sure it has an SPF of 15 or higher. Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before exposure to the sun, as well as reapply every 2 hours.

    * Keep all babies under the age of 6 months out of the sun.

    * Do not allow small children to become sunburned. Apply sunscreen to all children over the age of 6 months.

    * Pack an umbrella when heading to the beach or park.

    * Have a skin exam by your physician annually.

Certain skin types may be at greater risk to develop skin cancer. Sun damage occurs in everyone. Learn the early warning signs of melanoma. Early detection is your best defense at surviving skin cancer. Limiting your sun exposure and being sun smart could save your life.

Dear Friends,

Without an ounce of experience, special equipment, or photography skills you can join the 18,000 amateur photographers currently making a full-time living doing something they absolutely love!

You see, over a million new businesses start up each year. And one of the first things those new businesses need is marketing materials. Makes sense right? …

… Furthermore, how often do you see marketing materials (websites, brochures, newspaper ads) without any pictures? Rarely, I bet.

PHOTO SITES JUST CAN’T KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND!

And that, my friend, has created what I call a “rock-solid advantage” for everyday people like you and me.

Because, as long as you have a digital camera, an Internet connection and a few hours a week to spare, you can immediately start a fun and lucrative career as an online photographer.

Just Point, Click and Upload, it’s Really that Simple!

Right now, photographic websites are crying for more photos. Most are struggling to accommodate the hundreds of thousands of image buyers currently browsing through their websites.

Seriously, photos are in such high demand that Getty Images (the parent of iStockphoto) reported annual revenue of $857.6 million in 2007 – and since most of their pictures sell for around $2 to $15 – it doesn’t take a genius to see how lucrative this business can be.

Plus, I also know of five new photographic websites that just opened their doors, who are eager to cash in on this growing trend. They are desperate for photos and will pay top dollar for the right ones.

Generate Extra Cash, DAILY!

So, if you’re looking to break out of the boring, then a “home-based” Internet photography business may be perfect for you.

It’s a cash-rich opportunity that’s allowing thousands of everyday people to make an above average living, from the comfort of their own home.

Ideal for stay-at-home moms, graduates that are in between jobs, students who want some part-time earnings, and even retired couples living on a fixed pension – it’s a wonderful way to earn extra money, pay down debts, or to tuck away extra cash for a rainy day.

Imagine having the flexibility to take time off when your kids are sick; to enjoy your retirement without the financial worry; or to sleep in and work later, after you’ve had a lousy nights sleep?

With This Business You Are in Full Control!

It used to work this way: Graphic and web designers would buy expensive packages of stock photos and they would use whatever images they had available – but now with the explosion of digital cameras and the ease of photo distribution, companies want more options – and PHOTO SITES JUST CAN’T KEEP UP!

Today, companies need more variety to choose from, so they can develop stronger brands and enhance their unique selling proposition (USP).

They spend a slue of time searching for photographs with just the right touch; photos with something unique that makes them stand apart from their competitors.

And today, photography sites are franticly searching for people (just like you and me) to upload whatever photos they can get their hands on …

… Because they know that image buyers are first attracted to websites that have hoards of pictures – however, once they find someone who understands their unique needs, they’ll stick to them like glue.

So to grow their websites as FAST as possible, photography sites are offering unheard of commissions – some as high as a 60% for each photo sold. It’s amazing!

But what’s even better is that with all the graphic enhancing software and the cropping capabilities available, you don’t have to submit award-winning photos, or need to invest in any expensive machinery.

When you know what photos are selling like hotcakes, all you need is a trigger-happy camera finger and you’ll be able to rake in a slue of cash.

And in a moment, I’m going to show you exactly how it’s done.

So Damn Simple and Insanely Fast!

Keep reading, and you’ll be lead with wrecking ball precision right to the cash – and I’ll show you exactly what you need to do to get started. But before I do, please allow me share a bit of my own story with you.

I’m Jason Klean from Cleveland, Ohio – and, to most people, I’m considered a normal guy that likes photography and dabbles in web design.

But, what they don’t know about me is that only seven months ago I walked over to my boss and quit my $35,000 per year carpentry job on the spot, because my part-time photography business kept my pockets full of cash.

In fact, the money was so good that last year I made a whopping $73,547 working about 10-20 hours a week.

Now please don’t think I’m bragging, that’s not my intent. I’m telling you this so you know how financially rewarding a business like mine can be.

Amateur photos are in such high demand, yet most people don’t realize the full potential of this type of business.

Sure, certain pictures sell more than others; heck, some don’t even sell at all, but once you know the secrets, this business runs like a well-oiled machine.

So if this concept sounds remotely interesting – don’t waste another minute – and don’t go into it blindly …

… Because, when you know the ropes and you know what photos to focus on, you’ll make money, lightening fast. And it’s going to be a piece of cake after you get a quick lesson about what’s hot and what’s not.

So why share my great idea with you?

… That’s easy! In this business, the more photos that are submitted the more money people with the right photos make! It may sound strange, but those who know what they’re doing benefit more when there’s a lot of photo submissions.

Think about it: To attract image buyers; photography websites need hoards of pictures – right? But to keep buyers coming back, they also need a constant stream of high-demand pictures too.

And my photos won’t be ideal for everyone – however with a bunch of us taking just the right shots, we’ll keep customers hooked and coming back for more. So as I show more people what to shoot, we’ll all be winners!

Plus, I also figured out which photography websites are the best to work with. I’ve analyzed these sites, scrutinized the commission structure, compared the top sellers, and created an easy to follow winning formula that works each and every time.

You already have what it takes to do exactly what I’m doing. Heck, I’m no different than you. I’m no better!

Why spend a month or two researching all this on your own? Sure, in the end you’ll probably know who to work with and what type of pictures to take too, but why reinvent the wheel. It’s a waste of time!

There’s no better time to start a photography business than right NOW! It’s an income-boosting magnet!

Answer YES to These Questions and I Know This
Business will be Perfect for You …

Need to make more money, but have little free time to spare?

Want to put in a couple of hours each week, yet bank full-time earnings?

Want to be the proud owner of a fun, interesting and cash-rich business?

Want to see results right away?

Ready to Discover the Closely Guarded Secrets
of Online Photography …

Then Imagine…

Being able to work as much, or as little as you want!

Working from the comfort of your own home!

Earning ridiculous amounts of money from the same picture!

The power to control your own financial future!

A ton of extra tax benefits!

Plus much, MUCH MORE!

Let me show you how to steamroll the competition – and get people to swarm to your photos like bees to honey!

Remember, right now there’s a bunch of new photographic websites crying out for new photos. You may even have some on your hard drive that you can upload and sell, right now.

And like I said, your photos don’t have to be perfect. Buyers know they can use image software to alter or crop out what they don’t need. They are just looking for the right foundation.

If You Can Take Simple Photos Like These, You
Can Make Good Money Too!

Modelling scams, what to look out for?

Most people entering the world of modelling are young and impressionable and full of anticipation and excitement. Unfortunately there are many illegitimate agencies and tricksters who pray on this vulnerability and give modelling a bad name. If you’re interested in embarking on a career in modelling, keep your wits about you at all times and be on the lookout for any suspicious deals or offers. Here are some tips on how to spot the scams from the genuine modelling agencies and assignments so that you don’t end up out of pocket and disillusioned – or even worse, in personal danger.

Portfolio photographs

Some photographers offer portfolio packages for people aspiring to be models, often charging several hundred or even over a thousand pounds to shoot a series of photographs to make up a portfolio for agencies. This is a waste of money and the finished portfolio that you get won’t necessarily be what the agency is looking for. The photographer will usually shoot all the photographs of you in one sitting, so they’ll all have a similar look and feel with similar backdrops and of course you won’t have much of a chance to change your style of clothing or make-up. Several photographs that all look very similar are no use to an agency as they don’t give an impression of how versatile you can be. Instead, they’ll be looking for a variety of shots taken on different days by different photographers, all in different settings and with different styles. If you’re just starting out, you won’t be expected to produce a varied portfolio like this to an agency. A few inexpensive professional shots will be fine, and you can build up your portfolio as you gain experience. Don’t pay much more than £100-£140 for some professional test shots. It’s wise to employ a professional make-up and hair artist, though, but this needn’t be expensive – no more than £30 to £50.

Contracts – the small print

As with anything, never sign on the dotted line until you’ve read all the terms and conditions of the contract and fully understand them. And no matter how eager you are, don’t just glance over it on the spot – take it home so that you can read over it fully without feeling under pressure. No genuine agency will pressure you into signing there and then. Get someone else to read over it too, as they might spot things that you hadn’t noticed. If anything seems unclear to you or you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask the agency. If they’re legitimate, they’ll willingly give you an open and honest explanation. Some key areas to look out for are clauses detailing fees and charges – are they reasonable? Also look out for clauses that tie you into the contract for a certain period – is this acceptable to you? Another potential grey area is what will happen to any images of you taken by the agency. Check that you will not be signing away any rights, otherwise you could end up seeing your image in places that you would never have consented to.

Even legitimate agencies may try to give you a contract that isn’t very favourable to you – remember they’re in it to make money – so be on your guard and fight your corner to get a good deal for yourself.

Bogus modelling or casting agencies

Setting up a fake agency can be a real money-spinner for con artists who use flattery and glamour to prey on young and impressionable wannabe models. The ‘casting agencies’ tend to operate by hosting ‘casting sessions’ in hotels across the country, enticing people to pay an up-front fee to register with them and have photographs taken so that they can help them to find work with modelling agencies. They often offer a ‘money-back guarantee’ if they don’t manage to find you employment within a certain period. Sometimes they do find work with an agency, but the agency is just as bogus as they are and is usually run by the same people. Again, the agency asks for an up-front fee to join, so victims end up paying twice. It’s all a scam to run off with people’s fees and victims never hear from them again – and never get their money back.

A genuine modelling agency will never charge an up-front registration fee. You shouldn’t ever be charged anything until you’ve completed the first assignment they’ve arranged for you.

Model competitions

Good and reputable agencies don’t charge any entry fees for their competitions. If you come across a competition where an entry fee is required, even if they say it’s to cover the cost of photographs and administration, and even if they look slick and professional, steer clear – they’re just after your money.

Bear in mind that a model competition isn’t the same thing as a beauty pageant, which will normally – and quite legitimately – charge an entry fee to cover the costs of hosting the event.

Model training

Beware of agencies that insist upon you completing a day’s training run by themselves at your own cost in order to register and obtain work with them. No model can be trained in a day – it takes practice and experience – so any claims of turning you into a professional model in an instant are nonsense. Genuine agencies may offer to send you on training courses but they shouldn’t charge you up front. Any costs incurred will normally be charged to you after you have started earning with the agency.

Free photo shoots

Often advertised in the classified sections of newspapers and magazines, these scams offer free photo shoots for people aspiring to be models. However, as the old saying goes, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. These tricksters end up with a free set of photographs that they can use to unscrupulously sell to various publications, making a profit out of you which you don’t see a penny of. What makes it worse is that you have no control over how your photographs are used and you could find your picture in undesirable or inappropriate publications. This is especially the case where the advertised ‘free photo shoot’ is looking for potential glamour models. Worse still, you could end up putting yourself in danger as many of these shoots are conducted in hotel bedrooms or other private places. Never go anywhere without telling someone else first, and if possible take someone to accompany you. Don’t be bullied into doing anything you don’t want to do and if you smell a rat, get out as soon as possible. These criminals sometimes use the opportunity to cajole young, innocent victims into performing sexual favours for them or attempt to sexually assault them.
