The first thing to do if you want to make money from photos is learn how to take great ones. In the world of commercial photography clarity sells. The subject of how to take a good photo is too comprehensive for one article, however the following is important:

· Have a decent camera.
· Know how to use it.
· Have an eye for detail and colour.
· Be ready to grab an opportunity when it presents itself.

If you happen to be driving through the hills of Scotland and come across a lone piper (or even two), grab that camera. Watch for sunsets, moonrise, cloud formations and tree shapes. Keep a sharp eye on your pet for unusual poses, and visit your florist every so often. Flower pictures are surely many photographers’ bread and butter and they can be photographed in the light on your windowsill. Greeting card markets love photos of flowers, gardens and pets doing something unusual. Wildlife and nature are great for calendars and geographic magazines and educational markets.

Diversity is the keyword for topics in photography. The wider the range of topics you cover, the more likely you will be to get a sale. Anyone can make a good living from stock photos. Freelance photographer Lee Frost (UK) sells just as many photos taken from his own backyard as from exotic and far-flung locations. In fact he sold a pic of the dandelions in his garden to a natural health book. But if you love travelling, put your holidays to work for you. Travel guides, brochures and websites could be possible markets for your photos.

So what to do with that fantastic shot? The edges are sharp enough to cut with, while the clarity would bring tears of joy to many publishers. The main thing to aim for with any photo is to sell it to multiple markets. This is taken care of if you submit to a photo library. You don’t have to be responsible for selling your own stuff then, but since the word is ‘diversify’ aim to do both. Offer it to non-competing markets over several years, since you are not selling the copyright.

It is important for any photographer to keep a portfolio of his work to show. You never know when you’ll meet a prospective buyer who wants to look at your work and they will not be impressed if you have to rummage through a dusty desk to scrape them together. When you do score a sale, don’t charge a pittance just because the picture only took a few minutes of your time. You’ve spent years learning your craft and your photos are worth a decent figure.

If you really know what you are talking about and can take a fantastic shot, think of submitting it to a photographic magazine, along with all the details of the precise equipment you used and a step-by step account of your procedure. A bit of a challenge maybe, but worth the effort. There are many other markets to consider too; all kind of magazines, newspapers, catalogues, travel brochures and books. So grab that camera and start shooting.

So you want to make a living from your freelance digital photography. A way to earn extra income that has been showing a lot of promise is selling your freelance photos to stock photography sites like Fotolia. Say you love shooting pictures with your digital camera but never considered making a good amount of money from it. You couldn’t describe this as a job quiting opportunity just yet, but if you dedicate enough time who knows. Doesn’t matter what age you are just as long as you have some extra time to shoot and upload photos. This is just a way to distribute your freelance photography onto a stock photo site that will sell the pictures for you. If someone buys your freelance photos you will get paid, it is a pretty simple concept. Although the concept is simple enough there is a few methods that need to be learned in order to ensure successful picture sales.

Taking good digital pictures is obviously an aspect of getting good conversions. You don’t have to use all the most expensive equipment or know the trade secrets of taking great digital photos. Buyers of stock photography need pictures of almost anything, and that’s what you can give them pictures of anything and everything. The colors in your digital photos have to be neat, balanced and not too dull. You cannot have any signatures, logos or marks on the pictures to define there ownership. Your photos have to be in focus and not have any noise. Lastly it should not look like you were a tourist and you had a more creative outlook.

To help your photos sell you need to photograph things that are useful to buyers. You really have to think like a buyer, because the people who are buying stock photography are marketers, advertisers, website makers, magazines, and graphic designers (to name a few). You need to attract your buyers with keywords or proper picture categorizing. Learning to pick the popular, low competitive keywords will improve your sales dramatically. And will bring a large amount of traffic to your freelance work.

Here are the things you need (or) need to do to get started

-Have an Internet Connection

-Buy a Digital Camera

-Learn about proper keywords, conversion, uploading, stock photography companies (read an Ebook)

-Sign up with Stock photo companies

-Take hundreds of digital photos

-Upload you pictures, make conversions/sales and make a profit

-Repeat what you are doing correctly in order to start make double, triple and yeah you got it

If selling your digital photography to stock photo sites something that interest you, learn more about how to get started at my site Freelance Digital Photography Careers and Job Choices

Babies are a unique subject when taking pictures. They don’t always want to cooperate like an adult will. Often times they will cry when the flash flashes and get tired of being photographed after on a few minutes. Here are a few tips to get the best pictures of your baby.

1. Use a black or white background.

Using a solid color background really makes your baby stand out in the picture. The background doesn’t have to be professional or expensive. A white sheet laid across a bed or a black blanket on the floor provides the perfect backdrop to take photographs of your baby.

2. Feelings are good.

Taking a picture of your baby crying is not just good for blackmail when they’re 15, but also good to help you remember what your child was really like on certain occasions.

3. Get down to their level.

If your child is learning to crawl, a picture from directly above them will be boring and won’t show the story. Dropping down to the floor will really give you a view that is memorable. Even setting the camera on the ground will make for a great picture.

4. Take a lot of pictures.

My daughter is 7 months old and what I’ve learned is that for every 10 pictures I take, one of them is worth keeping. In the other 9 she’ll be making a funny face, drooling or doing something else that didn’t show the picture that I wanted to capture. That’s OK because digital cameras allow you to take as many pictures of your baby as you would like and delete the ones you don’t want to keep.

5. Use natural lighting.

Whenever possible, go outside or open some windows to let in the natural light. Natural lighting looks better and is more forgiving than the flash on your camera or your fluorescent and incandescent lighting in your home.

Using those 5 tips I’ve really made my photos much better, so good that many people have asked, “Where did you have those taken?” They were shocked when I told them I had them printed by a great place online and I took them myself!

First of all – let me apologise for my terrible english. I have an important message though – so who cares.

Ever wondered when that day would come, where you could take those beautiful, pretty pictures your old Nicon brick can do – on a mobilephone?

Would it be possible? And if so – it had to cost? A lot? Well, actually not.

I will not advertise for any phone here, but i can tell you now – that taking highclass pictures like a professional photographer – is possible today –

WITH your mobilephone. Check out photos already now, to get convinced.

(sorry for the weird URL, it helps pay my website – just press “dont wait”, and skip the ads)

Done?

Is that a mobilephone camera?

I will let the pictures speak for themselfs. YES IT IS AMAZING!

Before i bought this phone (it could be any other phone with 3.2 MP as in my cameraphone), i didnt thought it would be possible to take pictures like this.

But doing it, is quite easy, and it can be done today.

Step 1 – Be sure to have the right light! – Stand with light in your back, so it shines at your “target”.

Step 2 – Get the right picture! This is VERY important. Dont shake the camera to either the left or right. This a “amateur death-trap”.

Hold the camera equal.

Step 3 – Look at my site to find inspiration. Or check out other photopages, just search around google.

Step 4 – Get Paint Shop pro XI – its cheap, but you can clarify your pictures – which is important. Though you can easily do without it.

Step 5 – Always ALWAYS – Have a camera on you

Yes this article stink. Yes, i may be out of words.

I tell my stories in pictures – which you can see for yourself at photos

One of the greatest skills you can acquire in your course of achieving maximum proficiency in photography is the ability to know that something is going to make a great photo. Developing your eyes should be where you focus your most attention to when trying to be s good photographer. And this skill can be developed when worked on. This article is to reveal how to improve your eyes for great photo shooting.

To get to the height of this developmental level depends on the individual involve. it depends on how much effort you put in, your previous experience, and how you can quickly teach yourself.

One of the basic training in photography is the ability to look at the world from a different angle, searching around for object/subject that will make a great picture, and turning things into exciting photographic pictures

One of the best way to develop your eyes for taking better picture is to look around at other pictures that are great, analyze great pictures from magazine and pictures from galleries, look at their composition, imagine yourself being there when the pictures were taking, check the direction where the shadows fall and see where the lighting was from.

Create a file of these photos that you admire then compare them with the ones you took think of what you could have done better to make your own picture looking as good as the ones you admire from your files

Not only should you lay your hands on good photos from great photographers but try and get your hands on the bad ones too. Look at photos that were taken by friends and try being judgmental and imagine how you can make an improvement. Imagine that you are at that location and where you would stand to get a better photo. Would you bend down or would you get up higher?
